Bryan McCormack, author of "Sell Your Self!", was born on Friday 29th April 1966 in Ayr, Scotland. Six years later he would see Jon Pertwee as Doctor Who in "The Sea Devils" and become a fan of the show, which he remains to this day. But he never hid behind the sofa. Ever.
Educated at Heathfield Primary School and Prestwick Academy, he started performing at the age of eight by winning a local schools competition to recite the poetry of Robert Burns. His best subject at school had always been English but, discovering he had a talent for entertaining an audience, it was inevitable that he would become an actor.
In the years that followed he gained extensive experience in stagecraft and joined Cumbernauld Youth Theatre early in 1983. Over the next four years he worked with the likes of John Baraldi, John Haswell, Frank Gallagher & Neil McKinven featuring in plays as diverse as MacRune`s Guevara and Epsom Downs.
Developing his writing skills through workshop productions, he specialised in multiple comic character roles alongside stand-up comedy and musical cabaret.
He performed his first one-man show, "Dracula Revisited", ten days before his 18th birthday. Having served his apprenticeship, he finally gained his Equity Card with Cumbernauld Theatre Company in their 1987 Pantomime "A Christmas Carol".
As well as becoming an experienced voice artiste and accomplished public speaker to any audience of any size, the next decade would also see him living in Oxfordshire and, for a time, becoming politically active, where his ability to command and hold an audience`s attention proved beneficial. But when not working as an actor Bryan held down "proper jobs" in Customer Service and Sales. Experience in a variety of roles, including management, proved to him that his acting skills gave him an advantage when it came to selling that his competitors did not have. "Sell Your Self!" was the result.
