Product Description

The entire series of the BBC's fast-paced sketch show co-written by Ricky Gervais and starring David Mitchell and Robert Webb. The dark and zany sketches poke fun at everything from James Bond to paranoia, with one regular spot, 'Outdoor Wee', featuring celebrities being interviewed while urinating alfresco. Includes six episodes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Underrated 28 Sep 2009
Format:DVD
A great collection of sketches, that has somehow been totally buried and forgotten. If you like Mitchell and Webb this is a DVD for you; it's very much in their style. A hidden gem!

3.0 out of 5 stars Hit & MIss 18 July 2007
By J. Rain
Format:DVD
I caught this when it was on the pre BBC 3 channel UK Play, this along with the great Fun At The Funeral Parlour were little nuggets in their late night schedules.

Containing some of the rising stars of comedy today, pre fame; Matthew Holness (Garth Merenghi) Mitchell and Webb, Olivia Coleman (In everything at the moment) Martin Freeman (Tim in the office) and a lady who was in Braniac!

Bruiser is very hit and miss, but when it is a hit it is as good as any sketch show. Some sketches were faves of mine and I still think they are really funny, Sparky the annoying puppet and outdoor wee a couple of faves.
It is obviously reminiciant of Mitchell and Webb's recent sketch show as they are the writers here too, and also that familar feeling of hit and miss-ness.
It is worth a purchase if you are a fan, though the sticker saying "Co Written by Ricky Gervais" seems a bit desperate!!

2.0 out of 5 stars My expectations were not met. 30 April 2009
Format:DVD
Matthew Holness is excellent, Mitchell & Webb are great, I'd say that the only thing holding back this series is the pacing. ..& the fact that some sketches just aren't funny. Also the sketches are repeated a few too many times, particularly the unfunny ones (well, all of them are repeated too many times, even the good ones.) I wish that, while making the series, they would have gone to test audiences to find out which sketches really worked & which ones ought to have been a one time gag,... rather than returning to that dried up old cow for milk so many times when, to be honest, it was pumping nothing but sandy powdered milk to begin with.
If you want to see some of your favorite comedic actors before they realy broke into the industry, then go for it. ..Otherwise.. This series is more fail than it is win.
