Includes specially packaged DVDs of Fist of Fury, Way of the Dragon (single disc version), Game of Death plus Special Features (2 discs), The Big Boss and Anniversary Special Features Disc. Plus, an exclusive Bruce Lee 30th anniversary commemorative hardback book.
The Big Boss: Lee plays Cheng, a man from Hong Kong who has come to Thiland to look for work with his cousins. His works along with them in an ice factory, but when some of them discover that its a cover for a huge drug barron operation, they are killed one by one, and Cheng must avenge their death, and he does in style, against the Big Boss himself... (8/10)
Fist Of Fury: Lee's most violent film and one of them ost action packed. Chen Jun is his character this time and its a true case of china vs. japan in this racist film about which school of martial arts should rule the town. As his school is constently attacked, and his master murdered, Lee sets off on a roaring ramapage of revenge against the japanese fighting in some fantastic sequences. (Nunchucka scene re-inserted-10/10) (9/10)
Way of the Dragon: The only film which is fully directed by Lee, and easily one of the greatest single fights out of all of his films. The ending fight between himself and Chuck Norris (World Karate Champion) was superb. He helps his fellow chinamen in modern Rome, who are under attack from the mafia. Again the fight scenes are excellent. (Double Nunchucka scene re-inserted-10/10) (9/10)
Game of Death: The last 30 minutes of the film is the only part worht talking about because it's the only part which is a) actually Lee himself, and not a double wearing dark glasses, and b) the best set of one-one fight scenes ever to be produced in any martial arts film. The basic plot is Billy Lo (Lee) trying to avoid joining the syndicate who want his martial arts talents. The legendry yellow and black tracksuit and yellow nunchuka are all here in this uncut platinum version, with an extra disc. His legendry one-on-one nunchuka fight and his battle with 7ft4" Kareem Abdul Jabbar are also at the peak of the action. (Nunchuka one-on-one scene re-inserted-10/10)
(Last 30 minutes-10/10) (Rest of the film-7/10)
Also included is an extra 2 discs, one of interviews with his family and friends, but the 2nd Game of Death disc is the real gem of the collection, it features the 40 minute scene at the end of Game of Death, according to how Lee wanted it to be shot, with his 2 students featured, his rib-shaking taunting of his oppenents, his extended nunchuka battle, and his alternate way of beating Kareem Abdul Jabarr, but i won't tell you how...
A 32 page hardback collectors book is also included and has some interesting insight into Lee's life.
All the film feaure lots more special feautures and audio commentry, and you can alos watch the original cantonese versions of the films.
Although it doesn't contain "Enter the Dragon" or "Game of Death 2", this is the ulitimate boxset, and of course you can still buy those other films seperatly, as they are also both very very good.
Enjoy, it's 9 hours of the Hong Kong legend at his finest.
For example, did you know that the Japanese dojo master who Bruce Lee kicks through the air at the end of FIST OF FURY was stunt-doubled by non other than Jackie Chan? Well, I didn't at first, but now I do!
Anyways, enough of that. I won't go into story synopsis or technical specifics, as you can view all that in the Amazon summary. All I can say is that this collection is a must have for any Hong Kong cinema enthusiast, and looks great on the shelf. Coming back to the way Hong Kong Legends present their DVDs, it's always so frustrating when you buy a copy of one of their films, only to pay a visit to your local store months later only to find that they've given the film the 5 star treatment! Hong Kong Legends always do this! Then again, I'd be the first to complain if they stopped, so maybe I'd better shut my mouth ;-)
The only downside to buying this collection is that two disk additions of the other films in the boxset are now being released, but you won't get the special addition book or the extra disk of features. For me, this boxset is the lesser of two evils.
A marvelous looking DVD package with four classic movies. Buy this now!
Most of all it has the original footage shoot for Game of Death with Bruce Lee fighting up the 5 story pagoda. The footage show bruce lee fighting 3 people of 3 very different fighting styles, most notably of all would be his nunchaku on nunchaku fight with Dan Inosanto.
This footage is amazing and it alone puts the film, Game of Death, to shame showing how amazing it should have been.
A Must have for any Bruce Lee Fan
