1.0 out of 5 stars Wastes labels! - can't set opening margin 13 Mar 2013
The full keyboard is great and I would like this product EXCEPT it wastes labels. I can't get the start to be less than 3cm. My filing tabs aren't that length, so I'm having to cut up (expensive) label tape and throw it in the bin. Also wasting my time with scissors. I wouldn't buy this product again.

When my our family owned Brother PT1250 stopped working in 2012, it had served us for eight reliable fuss free years as an electronic labeller in the home. From being able to be used for cookbooks, food bags, folders and anything that need a manual but professional label attached to it, the Brother PT1250 could handle the task of providing easy to peel and stick labels. My late father had developed blindness in one eye due to this heart medicine, but he adored the labels as it made life easier for him to look up index files that he had previously labelled with smaller hand written details when both of his eyes were working. Due to the easy purchase of its long lasting "TZ" ribbon cassettes as well as a few alternative colours of the ribbon tape available for labels, I scoured auction sites as well as private stationery companies for another Brother PT1250 model but was dismayed to find that it had stopped production.

The Brother P-Touch 1280 is its natural replacement successor and it is just as simple and quick to use! I purchased mine in 2012 and it has provided me with very professional looking labels fit for a number of things in the home, not just indexing files and box files to hold business and books. As a musician, teacher, product reviewer and just a general consumer, I need an electronic labeller in my life and though there are plenty of other rivals from Casio and Dymo, those brands AND this Brother labeller use thermal printing which in turn feeds letters and numbers onto adhesive printable film by means of heat transference bonding.

The Brother PT1280 can fit into the palm of a hand but it is quite large for its age, measuring 15cm by 13m and a height of 6.
