Thermometer is accurate to 0.1 degree

In the run up to Meningitis Awareness Week, Brother Max commissioned research, in association with media medic Dr Hilary Jones and Meningitis Research Foundation, focusing on children's health concerns around meningitis and temperature. Some 1,697 people took part and the key findings were:

• Three quarters of all parents are not confident about diagnosing illness in their own children.
• Nearly half of all parents are not aware of the normal body temperature range of babies and toddlers.
• Two thirds do not know that critical body temperature varies between babies, toddlers and older children.
• One of the key indicators of meningitis and many other childhood illnesses is a raised temperature, yet more than a third of parents are not confident about taking their child's temperature.
• A third of all parents use and rely on devices to measure temperatures that most health professionals consider to give inaccurate or unreliable readings, increasing the risk of incorrectly diagnosing illness in their children.

Wall-mounted stand for room temperature

In coming up with a design that does not require probe covers, Brother Max has made life easier for parents as covers can cause discomfort to little ones and need replacing on a regular basis. Instead, this product has a built-in cover for keeping the probe clean when not in use, and can simply be cleaned after use with a baby-wipe, alcohol-wipe or similar.

Easy to Use

The screen of the Brother Max 3-in1 Digital Thermometer has a back-light that automatically turns itself on and off, just one of the many energy-saving features that give this product an exceptionally long battery life. It uses readily-available AAA batteries, rather than cell batteries (which many other thermometers require), and one set of two AAA batteries will last for 3,000 readings in ear or forehead mode and 6 months in ambient mode (if left on constantly).

It sits in its own stand for taking room temperature, which can be wall-mounted without screws and positioned anywhere as the flip-over screen automatically knows which direction it is facing. This ensures easy access to and visibility of the thermometer at all times, which is essential as little ones can become ill much more rapidly than adults.
