I needed a telephone and fax machine and the Brother Fax T104U1 fitted the bill. In addition, I required an affordable machine from a well known brand to be sure of a good quality piece of kit.
Bare in mind this is the first fax machine I have ever brought and used so there was a little tinkering with the options and modes. But following the simple step by step guide I had my machine up and running within 5 minutes.
Lets not foget the telephone side of things. The receiver is a simple handset located on the left side of the machine. It's a little ususal compared to most receivers but I think space saving was the priority on this machine.
Before you do anything else, set the date and time, set station ID (this mean imputting your phone/fax number) and finally select your Receive Mode. These are Fax only, fax/tel or manual which is my preferred choice. This mode allows the phone to ring like your basic phone and allow you to answer a fax with no problems.
I originally selected fax/tel but this mode was a little to complicated to understand for my liking so I switched to Manual and it is nice and simple to use. There are a few other options but this is beyond my needs at the moment.
Don't forget to set up the paper tray and add paper and you'll be up and running in no time.
