Bought this to replace an old HP Photosmart, which finally bit the dust. Was going for another HP but various issues have clouded my view. Was looking for a printer that can scan/copy too for work requirements. Also one which will be used on a daily basis knocking out student cards/reports and plans etc. So far, so good.
It's easy to set up, and quietly sits sleeping until I press the print button and it springs into life. It's noticeably faster than the old photosmart too.
The print quality is fine for what I need, and more importantly the inkl is far cheaper than the equivalent HP ones. This was another reason for buying Brother.
The touch screen is easy to read and simple to use with not too many options and settings to play with and get into trouble. The set up process was simple. Just accept factory settings, put in the disk, and it does it all for you in no time at all.
It has a USB port for scanning straight to disk if required. Yes it's not the smallest, but if space isn't an issue, this is fine.
The only cheap feel comes from the paper tray which slides completely out in order to load up, but what would you expect for the money? It doesn't bother me at all. Paper loading is easy, with an easy to use sizing slider.
A nice touch, that the old printer didn't have, is the stretchy connector for the lid which allows larger books and documents to be scanned/copied without excess ink shading around the edges;these allow the lid to lay flat on the documents without being held down by a spare hand.
The top also opens up to allow duplex printing, which so far has worked perfectly.
Would I recommend this? Well, although I've had it less than a month, yes I would.
