If you run Windows Vista you may want to think twice before buying this printer. My company bought one and installed the printer with no problems.
When we tried to scan for use with OCR (optical character recognition) the printer software told us there was no OCR software installed. We contacted Brother who sent us Paperport 11 software on an a "homemade" CD-R. Try as we might the Paperport11 software will not install. Brother deny there is a problem for Vista users and bat the problem back to us. No help can be found on Nuance (Paperport) website. See Paperport professional review. Otherwise it is a nice printer but.... we cannot use it for OCR scanning.

I've had this printer for 6 months and it's worked fine. I went through numerous inkjet printers, all of which annoyed me endlessly with their expensive print cartridges and general problems. But this one, for pretty much the cost of an inkjet if you shop around, does exactly what I want it to do - print!
