Product Description

Product Description

This is the shoe for the runner wanting a lightweight running shoe, suitable for racing. Made with the environment in mind in cool colours.

Product Description

This shoe has been designed to be extremely 'eco-friendly' in its design. A very green and sustainable shoe for the keen racer. This shoe uses soy based inks and recycled materials including the innovative 'BioMogo sole'. A very fast and lightweight shoe for the competition runner. When it comes to sustainability, it's time for running gear to lead the way, not follow. With Brooks's usual passion, they has embraced this challenge. The result is the Green Silence, a ground breaking advance in running shoes that will not be kept quiet.

The Silence 22 July 2011
Colour Name:Black/emerald Green|Size Name:12 UK
These shoes are fantastic! I race in Newtons and has been using trail shoes as an all round running shoe.
I tried these on and they are so light and give a good feel to the road and for the money I may start racing in them! they look good as well, the only downside is my xtenex elastic laces dont go on too well!

great ultralight backpacking shoe! 11 April 2011
By Rob B. - Published on Amazon.com
I wore these on a 2 day backpacking trip with 38 river crossings. These were the perfect shoe! They are EXTREMELY lightweight...and drained well. These shoes coupled with some hydropel on my feet truly were the pefect combination. I usually wear orthotics because of flat feet but decided to go without on this trip and the shoes didn't disappoint. The trend is towards a more minimal shoe (like this) and I understand why. I would easily recommend these shoes as an ultralight backpacking shoe without reservation!

Obnoxiously good running shoe 9 May 2011

So good it's not even funny. They weigh nothing. Very, very comfortable (I have medium to narrow feet and high arches) up to 10k and probably beyond. I love this obnoxious color way, although it is a little less in your face than the Ronald McDonald color way (which I also have).

Excellent Minimalist Transition Shoe 22 Sep 2011
By Zach - Published on Amazon.com
My first minimalist/reduced running shoes are the (black and green) Green Silence and I absolutely love them. I was very surprised that an eco-friendly shoe would have such great feel and technology in running. I run for my community college and these I am starting off with my new season in so I may ease into them slowly (low mileage at first). They are a slightly narrow fit across the top and midfoot (this is somewhat due to the abnormal lacing of the shoe, which is a huge plus for me), with a slightly wider toe box. I love both those features. The bottom is more of a foam than a hard rubber so the landings are a tad softer. The heel-drop is very small and the heel hieght is not at all large. These shoes are very light (6.9 ounces) and run well on multiple terrains and for various workouts/speeds. More info:
Green Features:
* BioMoGo, the world's first-ever biodegradable midsole for running shoes
* 75% of the shoe's materials are post-consumer recycled
* Biodegradable insole and collar foams
* Laces, gillies, and reinforced webbing are 100% post-consumer recycled
* Water-based adhesives are used throughout
* All dyes and colorants are non-toxic
* Packaging is 100% post-consumer recycled

Running/Performance Features:
* Full-length BioMoGo
* Universal Contoured Platform
* HPR Green
* Forefoot Hyper Pod Construction
* Moisture-managing Element Mesh
* Synthetic Overlay Materials

If you are going minimalist, these are a great transition shoe (or even just to stick with these as their features are already fully satisfying with minilast running shoes). They are very comfortable, thus making them a great casual shoe too. As a personal recommendation, whether for casual use or not, please get the black and green color, as it being modest and color-cordinated with clothing. I love the shoes and I recommend them to every runner out there.
