Product Description

A blistering, white-knuckle ride of a martial-arts film that delivers high intensity and high-impact martial-arts action.

Jack (Johnny Yong Bosch) and Lisa (Pamela Joy Walworth) have recently moved to their dream home in the country, away from the hassles of the city and who want a simple and safe life to raise their daughter. Settling into the new surroundings and getting to know their neighbours, life looks on the up. Yet this is shattered when a group of camo-clad, mask wearing assailants storm the house and begin to attack and torment them.

Confused, scared and, at first, struck down by these assailants, the young couple soon fight back. Jack begins to display some ferocious fighting skills in retaliation to his attackers, skills his wife was not aware of. Showing he is just as adept at martial arts and killing as the invaders, Lisa begins to question who her husband really is. Jack, meanwhile, is only concerned with surviving and getting his wife to safety. However, when several of the attackers suggest they knew Jack from a previous time and with one of them wishing to help them, Jack and Lisa’s life and relationship is thrown into a whirlwind of action and chaos as identities are questioned and survival is threatened.

2.0 out of 5 stars Tom and Jerry Live!!! 5 April 2012
Okay, first off I have to point out that I'm a huge fan of Martial Arts movies. As such, I never thought I would find myself complaining about too much fighting in a film. But here I am doing just that!!
The problem with this flick is that although the fights are mind blowing they also become relentlessly tedious and boring after the first 10 minutes. Why? Because nobody ever gets defeated. No matter how many times the protagonists get stabbed, mangled, (or in one case beheaded), they just keep getting up again and rejoining the fray.
For a fight scene to have any sort of impact, it has to have structure and it has to evolve. Bruce Lee's face off with Chuck Norris in Way of the Dragon is a perfect example of this. It starts with both men tentatively squaring up to each other, then moves on to each of them alternately gaining the upper hand and finally one emerges victorious while the other one lies (permanently) defeated. Thus an emotional resonance is created.
However, the fight scenes in Broken Fist are a totally interchangable mish mash and seem to have no structure whatsoever (ie no beginning, middle or end). And the fact that the bad guys can be put through the equivalent of a meat grinder and then just bounce back again makes the fights the Martial Arts equivalent of Tom and Jerry and Road Runner.
Having said all that, Johnny Yong Bosh is amazing. In the last 2 minutes of his final fight with the last remaining baddie he performs some blindingly fast hand techniques that are truly awe inspiring and reminded me very much of Bruce Lee. A sudden change from Tom and Jerry to true martial artistry and a tantalizing glimpse of what might have been.

Johnny Yong Bosch stars in Alpha Stunts (the stunt team behind Drive starring Mark Dacascos -another must see film!) intense martial-arts actioner. The story is about a young family (Jack, Lisa and their young daughter Maddie) shortly after moving into their new home in the country. Unknown to Lisa her husband Jack's (Johnny Yong Bosch) past is about to catch up with him but not before their young daughter Maddie goes off to holiday camp. Some time after that all hell breaks loose as unknown assailants attack and attempt to kill Jack and Lisa.

What follows is a blistering, white-knuckle ride of a martial-arts film that delivers high intensity and high-impact martial-arts action. Once the action begins it relentlessly powers through the movie fight after fight as Jack does all he can to protect himself and his wife Lisa, giving us the viewer rarely a chance to catch our breath as there's barely any let up in the action... And I mean that literally. The final three quarters of the film is literally wall-to-wall action with only a few brief breaks to uncover the back story on characters, plot etc .

Broken Path is extremely violent, bloody and brutal showcasing the talents of Johnny Yong Bosch , Dan Southworth and the team behind Alpha Stunts. Jam-packed with great fight sequences the film *was* a rare undiscovered gem that Is finally being released in the UK. Once you have seen Broken Path you'll see why it's one of my all-time favourites already, up there with the best of them from Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Tony Jaa, Sammo hung, Yuen Biao etc etc. Fantastic film.
