Intelligent design has a new meaning. On the verge of retirement, a Congressional Senator is murdered in his home. Struggling CIA biotech analyst Joshua Harker finds himself assigned to unravel the mysterious death. Harker's hunt for evidence leads him across the globe, into the highest levels of a Japanese cartel engaged in covert, unethical genetic research. When he discovers a lover from his own past married to the tycoon behind the assassination, Harker begins to suspect he is being used - but by which side? His new territory of black ops espionage leads Harker into the darkest depths of a criminal underworld, a world where nothing is as it appears, a world where he must confront his past. When he discovers the ultimate truth behind the assassin, the secret rips apart all their lives. A secret that will shatter our society..for generations to come.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this, but in the end I enjoyed it a lot. It builds to an exciting pace and has the mystery and plot twists you'd expect from a good thriller, but also leaves you thinking about human genetic research (of all things!) The treatment of that topic is a bit intrusive towards the end, but it's actually well integrated into the storyline & plot before that. I wondered did the author have some experience in bioethics - it seems to mean so much to him? The bioethical theme intrudes into the plot now and again, varying the pace of the action a bit - which can be good or bad depending on how you like your thrillers. The overall balance between exposition and action is pretty good though.

The settings (CIA HQ, Tokyo, Paris) seem well researched, as does the biotechnology. The details of Japanese culture added an extra layer to the story. The technology isn't too heavy, unlike some technothrillers I've read, and is explained well only where it is necessary. The characters are well developed, perhaps a bit over-developed in places for a thriller.

It's well written and there's enough in it for everyone to find something to enjoy. I liked the writing style and would read more from this author.

Starts as a well written spy thriller that perhaps gets a little lost in the exploration of ethics in the use of gene theropy and perhaps the character flaws/past hurts.
Still a good read with exploration of Japanese culture/underworld.

CIA Stalking Killers 6 May 2012

I found this book to be intriguing and interesting. The premise was futuristic enough to keep my attention but not too fantastic to make we wary. The action was engaging but there were times when, as others have commented, the story did bog down in the machinations of corporate and family politics. I would recommend it for anyone who enjoys a mystery and action.

Surprised that so few people have reviewed this ebook. Shame that the people who read ebooks, don't rate what they read.
This ebook is very good, well written and the theme is interesting. You won't go wrong buying this ebook. After reading it, rate it and write your review.
