Product Description

CD Description

Solo album from one half of folk-peddling siblings Angus and Julia Stone. The electric rock elements and distorted guitar provide a slight departure from previous outings with his sister but the album is still sufficiently brimming with soulful strings, fiddles and mandolins to ensure that it will sit well with their fanbase.

Angus Stone is of course not alone on this album, but it is as good as an album with his sister.

5.0 out of 5 stars Summer Time 10 Dec 2012
By Nathan
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
When it comes to Angus and Julia Stone it's difficult to choose between them as for which is the most talented, but after buying this album I've decided that Angus is miles in front. I find Broken Brights very difficult to fault to be honest, it's a very summer styled album with a feel good factor that puts you at ease with great melodies and a laid back voice. clearly a very talented lyricist too, I can see myself listening to this time and time again. Cracking album!

5.0 out of 5 stars WELCOME SURPISE 26 Oct 2012
By M. Northuis - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I must admit that the first time(s) through this CD I thought it was
just another boring singer-songwriter affair, after sticking with it
because of the interest of a couple of the more dramatically dark songs-The
Blue Door and It Was Blue my patience was rewarded. This CD keeps growing on me and
I find myself discovering new favorites on almost every listen. One can hear
a Neil Young influence and perhaps a Damien Jurado influence at times although
Angus' voice sounds fresh and original. Even though he breaks relatively little
new ground it is welcome to hear songs written with a new perspective and
a high degree of literate talent. I hope he continues to write with such
a degree of quality or at his young age to improve and become one of the
greats.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's just my opinion but, "OMG!" 25 Aug 2013

I'm not a music critic but I am a music lover and I absolutely love Angus Stone and everything he's done.

I have everything he and Julia have done with the exception of "By the Horns" by Julia (that is next on my list of music to get) and I keep thinking that he (they) can't top what I'm listening to and then they (he) do it.

This album really just blows me totally away, and while I may be easily amused, I didn't think it would happen again. Angus is brilliant and he keeps on amazing me and making my life better and that is worth me reviewing this.

I'm not a good reviewer but I can't stay quiet when I feel so strongly about such a brilliant piece of work as this album is.

You absolutely cannot go wrong buying this album, so hurry up and hit the purchase button! You will be so happy you did. I am!

Everything is great about this album! I bought it not knowing who these people are, but I'm glad I did. I cannot stop listening to them, they're great!

Overall, I do recommend for those who love this type of music, and to those who are just looking for something new to listen to. It will not disappoint you. We need more music like this, ok.
5.0 out of 5 stars Young man with an old soul 29 Nov 2013

This album could very well be a Neil Young album, circa 1971. I had never heard of Angus Stone before and only gave it a listen because it was in the $5 section and the cover looked interesting. I am very glad I did.
