In what other classical CD can you hear about pickled boys coming back to life (Saint Nicolas, Movement 7), or hear the rantings of a hyper-religious poet who was locked in an insane asylum (Christopher Smart, lyricist of "Rejoice in the Lamb") set to music? This performance, conducted by the composer, has acoustics and performance that are sadly rather amateurish. However, after I heard these pieces for the first time, I was oddly intrigued by them. Not good first-date music, but definitely worth having. The classical equivalent of the Dark Side of the Moon album.
