Product Description

Book Description

Now in it's ninth edition, Britain's best-selling guidebook tops the 300-page mark for the first time and includes even more information on this Central Florida funland. As well as being fully up to date on all the new attractions, there are new sections on annual festivals to watch out for, ideas for repeat visitors and even a guide to Orlando home-buying, which is becoming big business in the area. Simon Veness is Britain's leading authority on all things Disney, and his 2004 guide fully lives up to the huge reputation it has built up with more than 200,000 readers.

From the Author

Well, here we go again - another fun-packed year in the Land of the Mouse (and other theme park creatures!). Of course, there is much, MUCH more to Orlando and Central Florida than theme parks (which is one of the main reasons we have increased the book to more than 300 pages this time), but Disney and Co remain the principal draw in the area and it is absolutely vital people are well prepared for a trip here. Planning is the No 1 priority for any Orlando holiday, whether you are a first timer or a Florida 'regular', and the Brit's Guide is purpose-designed to be your good companion from first moment to last. With the amount of detail built in, you are guaranteed the best possible insight of this amazing destination, complete with insider tips, money-saving ideas and ways to avoid the queues. Year after year we get told by our readers that the Brit's Guide is their holiday 'bible', and we are extremely proud of the reputation we have built up as the UK's Orlando experts. Now I urge you to find out what's in store in the wonderful world of Disney, 2004................!

Myself, my wife our daughter and my parents are going to Florida in September 2004. We came across this book by chance and are so glad that we did. The book has so much information, Planning your holiday, booking it, Flight info, Accomodation, Theme parks, Shopping, Eating out, Well anything you can think of its in this book. Alot of time and energy has gone into the book and its well worth it. We showed it to my parents and they went and bought one too. Its a real must for anyone going to Florida and with it being updated every year you never miss out on anything!!!

I'm currently planning my 10th trip to Orlando and the area has become almost as familiar to me as my own home town. However, I still buy each new edition of this guide and still find it invaluable - both as an aid to planning, and as a reference tool whilst I'm in Orlando.

Although I love guide books, I was a late-comer to "A Brit's Guide". The title put me off. I had no interest in being a Brit abroad and so I stuck to the American guides. However, I came across its author, Simon Veness, on the excellent Disney information and discussion forum website, "The DIS", and decided to give it a chance. I'm so glad I did - it offers so much more to the British visitor than the American guides. (Duuh! OK, so I'm slow!) In particular, the chapters on driving, shopping, and the two Orlando airports contain vital information for first-timers. The "Accommodation" chapter covers far more options than you will find in any American guide. And, of course, the details of travel companies and airlines are specifically for those travelling from the UK. Naturally, the theme parks are given plenty of coverage, but there is so much more - too much to mention.

The 2004 edition is even bigger. And, yes, even better (well, you knew I was going to say it). There's a new section on buying a home in Central Florida, together with more information for the repeat visitor (that would be me, then). "Brit Tips" abound (Union Jack boxes, scattered throughout the book, containing snippits of really useful information). If you bought the book and read these alone it would be worth the cover price. Then there are maps, driving directions, opening times and prices for all the attractions and shopping venues.

Orlando isn't a relaxing holiday. It's full-on, fast-paced fun. The key is to plan and a good guide book is the best place to start. Needless to say, there are hundreds devoted to Walt Disney World and Orlando (and I own most of them!), but this one really is the best.

As a seasoned Disney veteran with a longstanding commitment to the american guidebooks, I was sceptical when my boyfriend bought this book home- surely the guides written by US visitors would be more indepth, offering more hints and tips? I was wrong. This book is a fantastically written and indispensible guide for the British visitor. It is crammed full with everything you could want to know about WDW and its environs. (Indeed, one of the best bits of the book is it's inclusion of non-Disney attractions, something not many books dedicated to the area managaes to do succesfully..) The guide is amazingly thorough, yet compact enough to take with you. I would not hesitate in recommending "A Brit's Guide to Orlando and Walt Disney World" to anyone- from the first-timer through to the more experinced Disneyphile!
