This is an excellent introduction to the work of Ron Grainer, a very talented composer, who produced many of those theme tunes of yesteryear which bring back memories whenever you hear them; usually as background music for ads or new programmes.

Unfortunately much of his most memorable work is not on this particular CD - there appears to another 2 volumes - but at the price it is still worth a listen.

The most interesting track on this goldmine-for-Grainer-fans release is the rejected original theme tune for the TV series, The Prisoner.

Apparently, Patrick McGoohan didn't think it was good enough, and now we can all hear why!

Some fascinating and obscure material can be found here. The other volumes deal with other composers.
