Review

'The combination of such 'fly on the wall' photographs with more formal ones is backed up by thoughtful and informative texts on each artist...Highly recommended' Galleries magazine, March 2010 'At last a book that highlights the diversity and talent of present day British Potters.' --Kent Potters Newsletter

'... a happy blend of text and image...' --Crafts - 2010

Product Description

An in-depth study of 24 artists, their work and studios. The book will look at the work, inspiration and the studio of each potter. Almost a mini biography on many of the most prominent and exciting artists around, the book looks at artists making everything from domestic ware to sculpture, and includes Clive Bowen, Walter Keeler, Sandy Brown, Ken Eastman, Neil Brownsword and Claire Curneen amongst many others. Both a visual and informative book, showcasing work alongside professional shots of the artists studios, with a well-written summary of the artist. This book offers an ideal opportunity to review a variety of some of the most interesting potters together, throwing the book open to a wide audience of ceramic lovers.

As i am doing a Ceramics degree it was interesting to see what other british potters are up to and how they have set up their studios.

A Disappointment 13 July 2011
By Leo
Format:Hardcover
I feel this book was misconceived. The "studio" connection (as in the title) amounts to not very much. He includes some potters that perhaps don't deserve it, and says little about the range and outstanding merits of those that do (Malone, Keeler, Bowen, Rogers, Baldwin, one or two more). It would have been nice, too, to see many more photos of pots showing not only the makers' best works but also the range and development of their work. An expensively produced - and priced - disappointment.
