'British HARD PLASTIC DOLLS of the 1940s & 1950s' is written by Frances Baird, who has been interested in hard plastic dolls for over forty years. It also covers composition and vinyl dolls, and is jam-packed with full colour photographs of cute dolls, strange dolls, dolls that are crying out to be picked up and cuddled, and prim-faced dolls in pristine condition. It's a lovely book for anyone who yearns to rediscover their childhood playmate, but is also full of information for the serious collector who wishes to identify a doll. All of the major British doll manufacturers of the 1940s & 1950s are covered, along with the less well-known. Frances Baird writes in an easy, but unsentimental style, and shares her knowledge with enthusiasm. If you don't own a hard plastic doll, you will definitely want one once you have read this book.

A beautiful book, 140 pages including a very nice intro to the making of the dolls about the plastic and when they were manufactured etc. Very informative with lots of photos to enable you to identify your dolls. I found reading about the different dolls fascinating and made me more determined than ever to 'buy back' my childhood. My husband may not share my enthusiasm but hey ho! All in all a wonderful book and well worth the spend!
