Good Introduction 13 Aug. 2014
By John J. Sayen Jr. - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
Good overview of the evolution of uniforms in the British Navy. I was especially interested in in the uniforms prior to 1815. It was interesting to note that the Navy had no uniforms at all prior to 1748 and after that only commissioned officers and midshipmen had them. I was especially interested in the uniforms introduced for warrant officers in 1787 but unfortunately my copy of this book was damaged and had a couple of pages missing from this section.
