This is probably the best value collection you can get if you want to buy British light music, comprising the Hyperion British Light Music series Vol 1 - 4. Some favourite pieces are missing, but it manages to fit in most of the real classics, like Sailing By and Elizabethan Serenade, played with period charm and gusto by the New London Orchestra. I loved hearing my old favourites, and discovered some new treasures through this. I would recommend it heartily, especially if you were thinking of buying one of the discs in the series - this is much cheaper than buying them separately!

Format:Audio CD
These are pieces that are always good to listen to. Even if you can't put a name to them so many of them are familiar tunes. Many of them remind me of favourite radio or television programmes and it is good to find these listed along with the titles and composers. Having bought the boxed set for myself I then just had to buy another as a birthday gift. Very good value for money.

If you like light classical music you might really enjoy these CD's. The sound quality is great and the selections are timeless classics. My husband grew up in England and was familiar with most all of the pieces and it brought back wonderful memories of bandstands and warm summer evenings.
