If only I'd had access to this written down music when I started playing 50 odd years ago; I'd be a third rate John Renbourn by now! Still. better too late than never as this is music that's a challenging delight to play. The notation being in both manuscript and and tabular is so helpful to understand the timing of the music. i would have liked the accompanying CD to include a few tips on how to play the trickier fingering on most of the pieces. Great to see this title is still in print a great collection of tunes from Graham, Jansch and Renbourn. The transcriptions are in standard notation and tab and as a previous reviewer stated slightly frustrating that the TAB uses fret numbers between lines rather than traditionally on it. If this is slightly odd to read then you could always copy sections out your- self, a darn sight easier than transcribing them yourself off the record, or use the notation. All in all a fantastic collection, lovingly put together and including in my old worn copy some illuminating interviews with the artists. If you like these guitarists this book is a must.

Bought this for "Lady Nothyng's Toy Puffe" by John Renbourne; very happy with the version tabbed here. Another major bonus is the CD with all the tunes by the original artists; worth the price alone.
Only draw-back with the book is the old-fasioned tab style; markings are between lines rather than on them, which take a little getting used to. It might also be nice to have the fingerings marked. But that is a small quibble.
Unreservedly recommended.

Excellent interviews with the three guitarists and tabbed tunes from them . The cd saves having to buy other cd's - for the timebeing! Really useful fingerpickin book for the collection.
