Product Description

Product Description

Tea and coffee cups have been made in Britain since the middle of the eighteenth century and can be found in a vast array of decorative designs, reflecting the changing fashions of society as well as the advances made in the manufacturing process. This book charts the development of tea and coffee cups over 200 years, providing information on the methods of decoration, influential factories and designers. Steven Goss guides the reader on how to identify the dates of particular patterns, as well as listing a number of museums and auction houses where these ornamental cups can be discovered.

A good introduction to the world of collecting! I would recommend this to anyone who would like to start putting together a collection. Early cups are a great subject for a collection - as they are plentiful enough to be affordable, yet are true antiques.

This book makes me drool - there are soooo many beautiful cups. People ask about our collection "you do use them don't you" and are astonished when the answeris "No". The examples in this book would NEVER EVER even be considered for use. Regretfully, we will be lucky to even see one of these, let alone own one. But we are still glad we got the book.
