This forward-facing Group 1 car seat offers a secure and comfortable car journey for your toddler.

ISOFIX is an international recognised way of fixing a child seat to a vehicle without using a seat belt. It was developed by Britax in association with VW in 1997 and as of February 2011, it is required by law that the system be integrated into a minimum number of seats in all new cars. ISOFIX anchorage points are installed in the vehicle with matching connectors on the child safety seats. This allows ISOFIX seats to be securely, correctly and permanently attached to the vehicle body. Its simple installation minimises the risk of the car seat being installed incorrectly.
This unique patented system was developed by Britax and is used in all ISOFIX Group 1 seats, including the Safefix plus. In the event of an accident, the Pivot Link system reduces much of the forward rotation of the seat, which channels a large part of the energy downwards into the car seat. This means that in the first phase of a collision, the movement of the child that is directed forward is markedly absorbed and reduced by means of the seat being initially pressed into the car seat. In the second phase, the forward movement of the child safety seat is slowed down. All in all, this causes the pivot link to reduce the strain placed on the child’s body and the cervical spine in particular. This reduces the risk of head injury through, for example, collision with the front seat.
One out of four car accidents is a side collision and side collisions account for 20% of child car seat crash fatalities. With this in mind, all Britax car seats have side impact protection for full head containment and optimum body protection, thanks to the energy absorbing and soft, deeply padded side wings. The side wings also support your child from the side during sleep and rest, ensuring the remain in the correct position.
Five attachment points: two at the shoulder, two at the hips, and one between the legs. A core tenet of the Britax child passenger safety philosophy is that children should remain in a properly positioned five-point harness as long as possible. The simple one-pull adjustment enables you to simply adjust the child car seat harness by pulling the adjuster strap.
The best way to install the Safefix plus is with ISOFIX, but it can also be installed using your vehicle’s 3-point seat belt if you have an older car without an ISOFIX system.
It is important that you make an informed decision when buying a car seat. This list of all the safety and comfort features should help you decide if the Safefix plus is the right car for your child and your requirements.
If this car seat does not have all the features you want, why not look at the Britax Car Seat Buying Guide to see which of their other car seats might be more suitable.
Single group seats have the optimum shape designed for the weight of the child. They also offer additional comfort and practicality. Group 1 seats have comfortable recline systems that are easy to adjust while the child is in the seat and seat is fitted to the car.
Group 1 car seats are suitable for children weighing between 9 and 18kg (approximately 9 months to 4 years old). You should move from a Group 0+ to a Group 1 seat when your child exceeds the weight limit and can sit up unaided with confidence or if their head is higher than the top of the infant carrier.
The 2012 Safefix is available in a choice of seven Trend Line covers and one High Line cover. Part of the Trend Line range, the Max cover is a classic black--the most popular choice for car seats. Trend Line covers are easy to clean, being removable and machine washable.
Spare covers are available separately for the Safefix plus, which you can use when the original is being washed or just to give the seat a new look. For car journeys in hotter weather, you may also want a Summer Cover or a Keep Cool Cover.

When you buy a Britax car seat, you can be reassured that you are benefitting from over 40 years of experience and innovation in child safety. Britax made its first child car seat in the 1960s and has continued to innovate and influence in this market ever since. In collaboration with VW, Britax developed the ISOFIX system that is now an international standard, as well as creating the first adjustable child seat and the first ever baby carrier specifically for newborn passengers.
Britax’s products are tested to the highest standards and it is one of very few brands to own in-house crash-test systems--the kind used in the automotive industry-–ensuring it provides optimum protection and safety for children. This is one of many reasons that the brand has become a much-appreciated partner of automobile clubs, government agencies and other transport-related institutions. Beyond this, Britax listens to its customers and feeds their experiences into future product developments, so that their car seats and travel systems meet real-life needs.
