Britax Prince is an adaptable lightweight car seat for toddlers
Formerly called the Britax Freeway, the Prince is the oldest model in Britax’s range, but it still offers excellent safety for your child.
The Britax Prince car seat is ideal for:
- Toddlers weighing between 9 and 18kg
- Older cars fitted with two-point lap belts

Suited to a wide range of vehicles--even aeroplanes
The Britax Prince can be installed using either a 3-point seat belt or the 2-point lap belt found in older cars and in the middle seat of some newer vehicles. It has a narrow base, making it suitable use in cars where there is limited space, such as smaller cars, three-door cars or cars with sculptured seating. It is also suitable for use on aeroplanes (although you should always check with your airline first) which makes it a great seat to take on holiday.
Deep, softly padded wings provide side impact protection
One out of four car accidents is a side collision and side collisions account for 20% of child fatalities, so it is vital to provide side protection for your child. The Prince has deep, softly padded side wings which ensure your child is protected in the event of a side collision and also provide extra comfort and support on every journey.
Five-point harness for a secure position
Britax advocates children remaining in a properly positioned five-point harness for as long as possible. The Prince has a harness with five attachment points: two at the shoulder, two at the hips, and one between the legs, ensuring your child remains securely in the seat. The harness can be adjusted with one pull.

We are generally pleased with this seat. It is smaller and lighter than most, which is important to us as we travel by air a good deal and need something not too difficult to bring along. It is easy to fit in cars of many sizes, and our child has been happy in it from the first (she was then 11 months old, now 20 months). Its main drawback is that the shoulder harnesses must be held together in a particular way when being fit into the buckle; they cannot be inserted into the buckle one at a time. This can be awkward if the child is squirmy or if one has limited space in which to work.

This is a good car seat. Before we got this one, we had a very expensive Maxi Cosi seat which broke. This is lighter, easy to fit and my son is comfy in it. The only draw back is the fiddly buckle which is difficult when your child is trying to be difficult!!!

Bought this car seat under the assumption that it reclines as it states. Fitted it in my car only to find that reclining the seat moves the seat belt too. Have since phoned Britax (should have phoned them first) who informed me that this model needs to be removed from the car, reclined and then refitted each time it is required. Not much help when the baby has fallen asleep in the car...Will now need to buy the Elipse version.

does the job well
Easy to fit in. My baby boy looks comfortable in it. I have fitted it reclined as you would have to fit the seat again if you wanted to recline it after the baby sleeps.
