The Adventure provides a safer, but inexpensive alternative to booster cushions, benefitting from Britax’s expertise in child safety.

The Adventure car seat does not have an integral harness; your child secured using the car’s three-point seat belt. Children can be injured if the seat belt is not correctly positioned across their body, so the Adventure has seat belt guides to correctly position the seat belt over your child’s shoulder and pelvis, away from the vulnerable neck and stomach areas.
One out of four car accidents is a side collision and side collisions account for 20% of child fatalities, so it is vital to provide side protection for your child even as they get older. Unlike booster cushions, the Adventure has side wings and a headrest that fully contain your child and provide additional protection in the event of an accident.
If this car seat does not have all the features you want, why not look at the Britax Car Seat Buying Guide to see which of their other car seats might be more suitable.
A Group 2-3 car seat is designed for children weighing between 15 and 35kg (approximately 4 to 12 years old, but it is the weight that decides which seat you need).
Since April 2008, the Highway Code has specified that each child who is less than 1.35 metres or younger than 12 must be secured in an appropriate child restraint system which has been successfully tested according to ECE 44/03 or 44/04 standards. A child car seat gives the child a higher sitting position, ensuring the adult seat belt can be positioned correctly across their body.
Booster cushions are better than nothing, but they offer no side impact protection, which is vital as side collisions account for 20% of fatalities. Britax has stopped selling its booster cushions and are instead recommending highbacked car seats. The Adventure offers this essential side impact protection for your older child with optimal head protection and body containment.
For safety reasons, you should keep your child in each stage for as long as possible -– until they reach the weight limit or their head reaches the top of the seat. Move from a Group 1 seat when the upper edge of the shell is roughly at eye level of the child or your child exceeds the weight limit. Do not move too early to a Group 2-3 because these seats are wider to accommodate larger children. Also a younger child's shoulders are too narrow to hold to the safety belt securely. A small child can therefore easily slip out from under the belt, especially when they fall asleep during the journey.
The 2011 Adventure is available in a choice of four Trend Line. The Billy cover is one of the soft-touch Trend Line fabric options and is a classic black fabric with a grey circles print. Trend Line covers are easy to clean, being removable and machine washable.
Spare covers are available separately for the Adventure, which you can use when the original is being washed or just to give the seat a new look. For car journeys in hotter weather, you may also want a Summer Cover or a Keep Cool Cover.

When you buy a Britax car seat, you can be reassured that you are benefitting from over 40 years of experience and innovation in child safety. Britax made its first child car seat in the 1960s and has continued to innovate and influence in this mark ever since. In collaboration with VW, Britax developed the ISOFIX system that is now an international standard, as well as creating the first adjustable child seat and the first ever baby carrier specifically for newborn passengers.
Britax’s products are tested to the highest standards and it is one of very few brands to own in-house crash-test systems--the kind used in the automotive industry-–ensuring it provides optimum protection and safety for children. This is one of many reasons that the brand has become a much-appreciated partner of automobile clubs, government agencies and other transport-related institutions. Beyond this, Britax listens to its customers and feeds their experiences into future product developments, so that their car seats and travel systems meet real-life needs.
