With 7 million extra spent on holidays in the UK by the British public last year - this is a very timely book. Nothing could be more persuasive in its powers to get you to the British seaside than this guide. Its fabulous photography is stunning, portraying the true beauty of the coastline. A flick through this book could persuade you that you are looking at anything but Britain. The turquoise seas, fabulous stretches of golden sands, tiny sandy bays and coves, beautiful landscapes and incredible sunsets - yes, it's all here in Britain. So forget the long waits at airports, the worry of terrorism, the nightmare of long haul because this book will persuade you that what you want is right here on your doorstep. 38 of the best destinations that will put Britain back on the holiday map. Includes a guide to the area, best places to stay and eat, getting there and places to visit. A couple of years ago, I was amazed by the rugged beauty and long sandy beaches of Tynemouth, not featured but the beauty of our own coastline cannot be denied.

Is there nowhere for a seaside escape in Northern Ireland? After all it is still British, at least that's what it says on my passport.
When I look at the map of destinations, and the blank space of N. Ireland, I wonder if this indicates that there is nowhere worth considering, or if the authors just got lazy, and decided they already had enough to fill the book.

Maybe they could consider this for a future edition.
Otherwise its a nice book, well illustrated, and yet again one of those books that makes me want to get packed and head off to the coast this minute.

This book has lovely photographs of the seaside locations and they just make you want to jump in the car and drive off into the sunset. The written info is useful and although some of the choices are the usual destinations there are also some really nice options that I'd either forgotten about or hadn't heard of, well worth getting, if only as a coffee table browser. I for one will be putting on the wellies and splashing in rock pools and taking in deep breathes of seaside air with this book as my guide.
