I think this documentary must have been filmed in the early 90s or 1980s...maybe even earlier.. I am not sure exactly. This documentary has a very nice/sober sounding narrator, is around 3.5 hours long , is very informative, covers many of the major cities, regions of Britain, and it shows thing that a newer , more "glossy" documentary might have ignored or just skimmed over to instead show some "reality tv show type of presenter/presenters" talking about and/or doing "less interesting things" .Fortunately, instead, a narrator is never seen and I much appreciate this style of documentary (how a documentary should be like, in my opinion). Great enjoyment watching this and i would recommend it for sure as it is not that expensive.

This is a very well produced DVD, excellent scenery and narration. An excellent choice for my husband's christmas present.
What a great way to see the different counties.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful views. 11 May 2014

Wonderful views of well-known and not so well-known places. The commentary is often accompanied by music which, even with Derek Jakobi's excellent diction, still manages to get in the way, but it's nowhere near as intrusive as more recently made productions. Unfortunately, there are no sub-titles, so I need to replay some parts until I can make out all the words. This might be very irritating for people with poorer hearing than mine which, I've been told, is typical for a 70-year old.
