Like all the Brit Guides, this updated NY edition is full of the insider information that really inspires trust. Not only are there tips from the authors, but also contributions from 'New Yorkers in the know', that give hints and wrinkles that can save you time and money - and steer you towards sights that you might otherwise miss. Do you know any other guide that would tell you where to find a bar in Hell's Kitchen that gives its patrons free hotdogs?!

We have just returned from NY (Manhattan). We arranged holiday according to this book, from a transport from the airport to the hotel, through daily use of public transport, planned the daily areas to discover and tips on luggage storage were very useful. The subway map was the most viewved part of a book, however sometimes it`s hard to exactly locate the subway stop. The big map of Manhattan is also very useful, but it would be better if it was coloured. Those are just our 2 objections. Apart form that, the book is great and enriched for useful insider tips.
PS: It should be called Manhattan guide as you don`t find many information about neighborhood areas, but this wasn`t issue for us as we stayed in Manhattan which is the most exciting part of New York.

Having previously purchased Brit Guide Orlando twice before I expected the New York edition to be of similar quality and accuracy of information, how wrong I was! The information and descriptions given is poor in comparison to it's contempories such as the Time Out edition which I also posess which gives you a more wider and in depth view of the many aspects of New York. The Brit Guide feels as though it has just been slungtogether with many inaccuracies such as the cost to visit Liberty/Ellis Islands and the assumption that Shea Stadium can still be visited (It has been demolished nearly 3 years and The Mets now reside in Citi Field!).
All of the above factors give me a lack of faith in this Brit Guide offering and leads me to question for other possible inaccuracies which could potentially affect my visit to the Big Apple. Quite simply I cannot trust it and cannot use it as a New York Travel "bible".
