Format:Audio CD
Great lineup, almost competing with Radio 1's "all-brit" leadup to the awards night - but who invited Britney?
The DVD side of these dualdiscs (CD one side, turn over for DVD) is great, it's nice to get the videos for 'free' to put on at parties if nothing else.
However... trying to listen to the audio reveals more of that nasty copy protection. No evil software to take over your pc this time, but the disc simply isn't recognised by my pc or Cambridge Audio cd player. It does play in a Sony mini hi-fi though (surprise...)
So if you listen to your music on a PC, avoid this like the plague. The only way is to use the DVD video side - not all the tracks, and not exactly elegant!

Format:Audio CD
As in keeping with previous Brits compilations this CD sticks firmly to mainly artists nominated for awards. One critical issue has been adressed, this album represents a lot more British acts. But they only went half way, a lot of songs are simply fillers to make up two CD's worth. Tracks from the sugarbabes will young and non british tracks from mario and britney speares simply dont need to be here. these should have been replaced by the likes of arctic monkey's, magic numbers and some representatives from the urban catorgory. kanye west is also strange in his absence
On the positive side there is some quality british talent on here from coldplay, kaiser chiefs, hard fi, franz ferdinand and razorlight. its nice to see dance represented by mylo and classic faithless remix of insomnia. all accompanied by british legend oasis. again disappointingly though the ends of the CD's are weak. an improvement on last year but still needs to represent true british music better

Format:Audio CD
There's been quite a lot of negative comment about the use of this format and the implications it may bring. Frankly that's just not fair criticism of the product offered here. The label clearly notes that ' the disc may not play on some CD and DVD players' , I fancy however that should not be the case on many a machine. I've tried both discs in 7 different drives in total with no problem. It's a welcome step in the right direction, especially if you are looking for value for money.
On to content, well maybe there are some notable omissions, but consider those that are there, offering 2 hours of really good material in both sight and glorious sound. From the quirky 'Tripping' by Robbie Williams, offering a gem of a video,the devine Kelly Clarkson through to evergreens like Kate Bush and Paul McCartney. Throw in some of the best 'Brits' around such as Coldplay, Franz Ferdinand and Kaiser Chiefs, this is one hell of an album.
An investment in 'pop' you wont regret - forget the 'spy-hysteria' and enjoy perhaps the best dvd collection since 'Live Aid!'

Plays on some dvd players
This album would be good if you could play it. Sony yet again has let the music industry down with their over protection on the cd and dvd. Read more

This is a very disapointing compilation. No artic monkeys? magic numbers? Black eyed peas? Nizlopi? Kanye west? I rest my case

non ipod friendly music
I usually enjoy the brits album ,that mix of classic tracks with cheesy songs serve as a reminder of the year that's been. Read more
