I've read most books about West Ham that have been written in the last few years and this is one of the best. It perfectly captures the spirt of our club with all the interesting stories that have kept the club on the front and back pages of the papers, even when we've not been setting the world alight on the pitch.

At first I was a bit thrown by the way the stories jumped around through time like Dr Who, but once I got my head around the time travel, I loved it. The key is to read one chapter a night before bed.

Even for a lifelong Hammer like me, there was still stuff I learnt from the book, especially the earlier stories before I was working at the club.

Jeremy Nicholas - Stadium Announcer at West Ham United since 1998.
and author of Mr Moon Has Left the Stadium

This book is superb. Whilst many books are written about West Ham United, this offering packs 30 years of hilarity into 60 bite size stories.
A complete summary of limited glory, the occasional legend and plenty of farce!

As a West Ham fan of over 40 years, I thought this book would be a nostalgia trip for me. It contained lots of interesting facts, but it read more like a list of facts than a story. Lots of short chapters with, at times, toe curling, cliched titles. There was too much emphasis on the period 2000 to the present day, and not enough on the 80's. Perhaps it is intended for a younger audience? I found it a bit sad that it ended looking forward to a fantastic season under Avram Grant...and we know how that finished :-(

All I can say is that my Dad doesn't read but he was happy to get this book (an no, there were not that many pictures in it...actually that was a bit of a shame). He's happy, so I am happy.
