Brilliant Windows Vista SP1 (Brilliant Computing)
I bought this as a present for a newcomer to computing who had just purchased a Vista-powered laptop. I thought it would be a good compromise, being more extensive than the basic books available, yet still having good pictorial screenshots for the beginner. To be honest, the recipient thought it was too technical for a beginner. I had some experience with XP though, and I was pleased with the scope of the book and the comprehensive index, which seems to answer most questions that have come up so far - but maybe a more basic book would be appreciated by the complete beginner working on their own.

I searched long and hard for something to help me live with Vista after reading so many negative reports about the system and expecting a new computer with Vista installed. This book is excellent, well laid out, easy to follow and, with it's help, I found Vista far less daunting than I expected. Yes, there are some new things to learn after several years with Windows XP but this book is a great teacher.

Amazon delivered this book in perfect condition and very quickly too. It is an excellent product well written and well designed for quick reference. I have found it very useful already and should be ideal for people like me who are not fully competant with vista yet.
