About the Author

The author is Chairman and Creative Director of Ingenuity, a highly successful new business consultancy based in the West End. He works closely with many of London's top agencies to help them develop and sharpen their own pitch – from pitching 'cold' to new prospects, through to the final closing pitch.

With a background in advertising, video, digital, design and PR agencies, he has worked at a senior level in the business development functions of a wide range of agencies. As an entrepreneur he has co-founded three successful agencies. He has also worked as the Marketing consultant to a business incubator, funded by the Dti and the UK software industry, advising software entrepreneurs on pitching to potential investors.

A superb book packed full of handy tips and hints for the novice and professional alike, ably demonstrating that pitching is a talent of a thousand transferrable skills! Don't embark on that business without it!

Having been in Sales and Marketing for decades I have received and given thousands of presentations - a few have been good, some of them okay, but most of them have been a waste of everybody's time and effort. This book focuses, as very few others do, on the key to a successful presentation - the audience. I get the feeling that the author has learned from years of real experience.

The author takes us step by step through the major components of a presentation giving real-life examples of successes and failures throughout. It is an easy read and the concepts and advice just 'feel' right. I constantly recalled situations from my own experience that tallied with what was being said.

I was responsible for sales training in 2 major international corporate organisations. I would have used this book as the basis for presentation training and Mr Varga as a keynote speaker on all relevant sessions. I would have regarded it as the bible on the subject of presentations.

5 years ago my team pitched for a public sector contract and lost. Beaten by a professional organisation. The contract came up for renewal, this time with additional keen competitors. We felt we were the best option, but how was I going to win the bid? Also the contract had been split into 2 halves now, but I wanted the whole pie!
It is a 3 year substantial contract, essential for the next step for our business. How would we sell ourselves to win? Looking for professional advice, I bought this book off amazon, and it is FANTASTIC.
It became our bible for our pitch.
The author provides a step by step approach covering all angles of the pitch, with excellent tips and illustrative stories. The advice on how to engage with the buyers, how to listen before pitching, how to establish trust before the bid, how to present yourselves and how to organise the presentation, and the chapter on getting the buyer to change their plans to agree with yours, all lead my team to victory.
We have the whole pie! They are prepared to take the risk of giving us both halves of the contract due to the excellence of our bid, our team, and our presentation. This book enabled us to sell ourselves and WIN.
Now we just have to perform, and it is back to us to succeed, and keep the contract for the next 20 years.
