What you need to know and how to do it

Excel is one of the most powerful office and business productivity tools available – but do you know how to harness its full potential? Do you want to get a better understanding of its full capabilities and potential, and develop the Excel skills that you need to produce solutions to all of your business needs? Brilliant Excel 2007 Formulas & Functions will deliver increased office productivity and improved results by unleashing your inner Excel expert ! This book is for the savvy Excel user who wants to understand and then use the advanced features of Excel but doesn’t want to dedicate their life to it.

Develop your Excel 2007 expertise instantly with proven techniques

Most Excel 2007 users learn only a small percentage of the program’s features. They know they could get more out of Excel if they could just get a leg up on building formulas and using functions. Unfortunately, this side of Excel appears complex and intimidating to the uninitiated—shrouded in the mysteries of mathematics, finance, and impenetrable spreadsheet jargon. Sound familiar? If you’re a businessperson who needs to use Excel as an everyday part of your job, then you’ve come to the right book.  Brilliant Excel 2007 Formulas and Functions demystifies worksheet formulas and presents the most useful Excel functions in an accessible, jargon-free way.  This book not only takes you through Excel’s intermediate and advanced formula-building features, it also tells you why these features are useful to you and shows you how to use them in everyday situations. Throughout the book you’ll find no-nonsense, step-by-step tutorials and lots of practical examples aimed directly at business users.

Brilliant Excel 2007 Formulas & Functions

  • Focuses like a laser on the four technologies that you must master to get the most out of Excel: ranges, formulas, functions, and data analysis tools.
  • Shuns spreadsheet theory in favor of practical know-how that you can put to use right away.
  • Provides numerous real-world examples and techniques to help you learn and understand the importance of each section.

At this kind of price, it's a must buy. The book was purchased for me as a Christmas gift and it's been invaluable ever since. If your looking to enhance your skills, and take your excel spreadsheets/workbooks to the next level then this is the kind of material you must get hold of (most users only scratch the surface of Excel's potential). There's lots of expansion on all the necessary functions (i.e. IF's, AND, OR, COUNTIF'S, SUMIF'S, SUMPRODUCT etc) which will make a huge difference in your day to day usage of this fantastic application.

Excel is such a powerful programme and books like this help us to appreciate what can be achieved. Great book!

I bought this book based on my experience with BRILIANT EXCEL 2007 by Steve Johnson. You would think with BRILLIANT in the title you would be looking at a joined up series of similar books - none of it - where BRILLIANT Excel 2007 was colourful, well laid out and easy to follow and provided you with line by line training - this is just A N OTHER Excel book Boring Black and White and the usual boring style of preaching not teaching trading on someone else's success. Given a choice I would have my money back no matter how "reasonable" people think it is.

This text clearly focuses on practical skills required to exploit Spreadsheet Technology and specifically Microsoft Excel 2007. By understanding and applying simple yet advanced techniques when modeling business scenarios and processing business data, spreadsheets become more stable and reliable and contain fewer design errors. The outcome is that business decisions based on spreadsheet models become more reliable. Many organisations have fallen foul of spreadsheets containing design errors. This text teaches a basic set of rules to avoid bad spreadsheets and should be available to every student and business planner.
