Format:Paperback
The Brilliant series has always made me think that it lives up to its name and reputation. This remarkable work on the best known spreadsheet program is very detailed (yet not comprehensive enough to make it difficult to read), with very detailed descriptions at the top of each page, and complete step by step instructions on the practical "clicking and keyboard" procedures needed to accomplish almost any task in Excel one could imagine.

The paper, as with all books in this series, is quite good (could be slightly thicker to make the books a little more robust). The illustrations are very good, and above all, there are numbered or colour-coded references to where you need to click (either a picture of icons or a code showing clearly what to click). This is not very good in some series, but is outstanding in the Brilliant books.

The explanations of advanced formulae and the format you enter them in, is also commendable.

In summary, a purchase I will never regret.

Format:Paperback
Great guide to Excel 2010 edition. Very well explained in full colour. It is easy to find the relevant sections and to get the most out of the product. Better than the Idiot guide version

Good format 4 Nov 2011
By BrianM
Format:Paperback
I have the Word 2010 in the same series. I bought the Word book before the Excel book so I had a good idea what the book would be like. I like the books because they allow me to get to what I need to know quickly and when I get there they give me a step by step guide with colour pictures that show what the program looks like. So I give it five stars because the format suits me. No self teach book is perfect but very often the format will dictate how much I use it because if the book is good but difficult to use it becomes frustrating when you are in the middle of a task.
