Unusual British traditions are endlessly of interest to me, so Peyton's book is a real treat. As a Yankee spending much time in London, Brilliant Britain is yet another reason I wish I was British. Next best thing - all my friends will be getting this book for Christmas and 2009 birthdays so maybe they can generate some UK quirkiness in the states. Peyton's accessible writing style makes this book instantly readable - I was so engrossed by it that I missed my stop on the London Underground!

Another triumph from the pen of Jane Peyton. This author has a style that is entertaining and accessible to all. She knows her subject matter so well and takes the reader on a delightful tour of all that's best (and quirky) about us Brits. I am already a fan of Peyton's work and this latest offering doesn't disappoint.

I found this book fascinating - full of facts about us Brits. Very entertaining to read and I laughed out loud several times. Proves that Britain still is full of individuality and eccentricity. Perfect price and size for an "individual" and "eccentric" stocking filler.
