Product Description

Book Description
From the phenomenally successful AQA text answer service – the latest collection of the wittiest, wackiest and wisest answers around.

Book Description
A brilliant answer can be a response to a brilliant question - arcane, fiendishly complicated or something that we wished we'd thought to ask ourselves - or it can spring from nowhere, a fact-packed and funny retort to an everyday query. If someone sensible enough to have our number in their phone asked the title of Sandie Shaw's last UK chart single, the answer would be 'Nothing Less Than Brilliant', which got to number 66 in 1994. Nobody has yet, but let Sandie's swansong be the theme for the following smorgasbord of essential and non-essential but mightily entertaining information. New in this year's book are some of the most bizarre questions ever asked - "If a man stands alone in a field speaking, and if there is no woman around him to hear, is he still wrong" to some of the dumbest answers from would be researchers (in a test, when asked how many points you get going through a redlight, one applicant answered "Unfortunately dear, you will not get a point driving through the red light because it is against the driving rules.") all taken from 15 million questions that have been texted to 63336.

5.0 out of 5 stars Define Brilliance, 7 Nov 2008
By JimW "Poet" (Suffolk, UK) - See all my reviews
I like the way that a brilliant answer can either be a smart retort to a dumb question, or just finding out a fiendishly difficult fact. It's not just trivia, its the element of surprise and how carefully some of the answers are worded.

There's a few of these Q&A services around now, but I stick with the first, and the best. You can see why in this book - they've even got a section of answers from rejected applicants which is hilarious for all the wrong (is that right?) reasons... 'how does maturity affect plants?' .... the applicant wrote 'my granny is 79 and her plants are glorious'. Epic fail.

The rest of the book is filled with, as they say, mostly brilliant answers - like how to chat up in hebrew (my underpants are edible) - how eating celery can make you lose weight (580 stalks to lose 11lb) - and that Jerry Springers' birthplace was actually a tube station!

The best bit about it is, you couldn't make it up if you tried. Instead of just coming up with trivia, I guess this is the pick of what people really have wanted to know. What a genius book from the answer god (it's what i've got in my phone book!). Great for anybody, perfect for men in pubs.
