This is a slim volume [96 pages] without much text so there isn't a lot of reading to do. However, the excellent pictures are what you would buy this book for. For the most part, the editor pairs a photograph from the early part of the twentieth century with a modern photo taken from the same spot [most of these were taken in 2009]. Comparing the two pictures shows many differences but a surprising number of similarities, proving that although Brighton is a popular city with many modern attractions, its historical [and attractive] past is still visible and accessible. The paper is top quality glossy and the colour reproductions are very good. I'd have given it five stars if it had more photographs and information [and therefore more pages].
