This book is the best I've ever seen about Brighton. Max Crisfield's text is excellent but what makes this book stand out from the crowd are the superb photos by Matthew Andrews. He has a wonderful eye for the unusual and if you saw the photos without the text, you could be persuaded that they were taken in exotic places around Europe, rather than in a south coast town (now of course a city) in England that was originally a small fishing village called Brightelmstune. Definitely a five star book.

This book is great for both existing and new residents of Brighton and Hove, as well as a perfect introduction for visitors. Makes a interesting coffee table book too. I bought this when I first moved to Brighton, and then bought it for my parents in sweden to show them why Brighton and Hove is a great place to live! It includes chapters on the history of each area, places of interest, but not in a usual 'Tourist Information' way, as it's written much better. Lots of pretty pictures of each area gives a real sense of the spirit of Brighton.
