4.0 out of 5 stars An easy reference 17 Oct 2002
By Meddie B. Finnegan - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Bright Toddler is a wonderful resource for any parent wanting information on how a child grows and develops. I love it because of its simplicity. This book is divided into sections, and each section is subdivided into ages. So, for example, there is a section on Language Development, and then you can refer to a specific age (15-18 mo., 18-22 mo, 22-24 mo... all of the way to three years old). Other sections would be Learning, Social Emotional, Fine Motor, and Gross Motor.
This book is vivid, colorful and a quick read. There are charts that are big and easy to navigate, and then chapters for more explicit information. It really reads like a magazine. This book has suggestions for activities to do to facilitate toddler development and a great list of toys that are beneficial to the age. I used it whenever I wanted to see what my daughter was doing and as an idea book for games or activities to play with her.
5.0 out of 5 stars The Go-To Book Series for Clinicians, Teachers and Parents 12 Jan 2014
By Lynne Kenney - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This morning I am writing an article for Happy Family Superfoods and wanted to include the Woolfson series as a link. It surprised me to see only one review on this book. The Woolfson series Bright Baby, Bright Toddler and Bright Child is one of the best ever written. I advise all early interventionists, day care providers and parents/teachers of young children to read all three books. Each book is laid out in an ages and stages format by developmental domain. The books have handy colorful charts showing the progression of skill sets helping the reader know "what is next" developmentally. These books are like The Bayley Scales of Infant Development + The Hawaiian Early Learning Profile in an edible well-written book for every day readers. They help the reader understand what is age-appropriate, empowering the parent, teacher or clinician to set up play, movement and learning opportunities to facilitate "next step" development. Get them, read them, cherish them, you'll use them over and over again.
