Book Description

Maximize your children's potential with the help of a leading child psychologist. Practical suggestions on how to ensure the development of hand-eye coordination, language, learning, and physical and social skills, will give you plenty of tools to use with your babies, toddlers, and pre-schoolers. Build your children's self-confidence, acknowledge gender differences and the impact of birth order and sibling rivalry, and understand nonverbal communication. Important issues such as sleeping patterns, eating habits, weaning, discipline, potty training, and preparing for school are fully discussed. Plenty of full-color photos, "top tip" sidebars, problem-solving suggestions, and question-and-answer panels allow for quick reference, and action plans and development charts help you monitor your children's progress. By recognizing and boosting their natural talents and abilities, you can give your children a real "bright start" on the future!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great and easy to read. 3 Jan 2005
By A Customer
This book is easy to read and understand. It covers everything that you need to know to develope your child and give you examples of what you can do with your child to develope them. The only thing I did not like about this book is how it was arranged. If you want to find out everything about your child at say 15months old you hand to jump from section on hand-eye coordination then jump to another section on language, then jump so another section on movement and so on. It would be better for everything on that child's age was sorted out to be in one chapter. Apart from that the book is great.

I liked the idea of the book and was really excited when it came. I would have liked to see a bit more concrete examples of games and exercises you can do with the babies, as this is something that is really missing for me in general in all the literature about baby's first year. And I agree with the previous comment that it would have made a better read should the book have been organised around age groups rather than skill.
