Bright Horizons is the finest, most comprehensive book ever complied on Series 4: the Emma Peel Monochrome era of The Avengers. The specialist interpretation of each episode is absolutely breathtaking in its stunning detail.

Written with immense knowledge, virtuosity and enthusiasm the 26 chapters have new innovative approaches and methodologies.

The collection of Avengers experts, from diverse backgrounds and disciplines assembled by acclaimed Avengers connoisseur, writer and editor Dr Rodney Marshall, for this exciting new and innovative project, is unsurpassed in its scope. The forward is beautifully written by original Avengers scriptwriter maestro Roger Marshall.

Music: Thunderball instrumental by John Barry

For Avengers fans worldwide - these are two of the best books you'll ever read on The Avengers Series 4. The book contain new perspectives and analyses, have terrific, thundering narrative drive, pace, verve and panache.

If you are a passionate Avengers aficionado and fan of Patrick Macnee as the suave John Steed and the beautiful Diana Rigg as the voluptuous Mrs Emma Peel, and/or a devotee of sublimely acted and crafted, exotic and erotic thriller television at its very best - then this are the book for you.

As an Avengers fan who remembers watching this fabulous series when it was first broadcast in 1965-1967 I believe the books are important, unique and meticulously well researched documents on The Avengers... the collection of compositions are enchanting symphonies of extraordinary, inspired intensity and love for their subject.

This is an excellent book with 26 chapters exploring all 26 episodes of the best tv series ever made. Written by a team of very knowledgeable writers, it presents an interesting variety of styles and opinions. This terrific book not only informs, but also successfully inspires the reader to look at aspects of this fascinating TV series they hadn't contemplated before. A wonderful book for any Avengers fan to add to their collection.

This book was exactly what I'd wanted. I have all the facts I could ever want about The Avengers in several other books. What I wanted was some reasoned and fairly detailed analysis and observations to compare with my own views of each episode. And here it is! A great read. Roll on the Season 5 book!

If you are an avid fan of this 1960s cult series - as I am - then this first volume in a collection which promises to cover every filmed season is a must. Unlike Marshall's other Avengers offerings, this time a host of experts have come together to explore and analyse every episode in the monochrome filmed season. There is a wonderful range of approaches: some more intellectual, some simpler but equally fun to read. Not sure that it will mean much if you haven't seen the show, but for the millions of devotees of The Avengers worldwide this is a lovely book to keep.
Great cover, lovely clear font and reader-friendly chapters from a broad range of contributors: academics, psychiatrist, actor, an Avengers writer etc. No doubt being the son of one of the main writers allowed the editor insider knowledge on a series I still believe is the best ever British television drama.
Don't expect glossy photos; it's a proper reading book rather than a coffee table one!
