Product Description

A Brief Tour of Higher Consciousness is a user-friendly, comical approach to what can be impenetrable subject matter. Bentov keeps in touch with his audience by providing it with images and physical analogies. -- Patrick Brennan, Fate, February 2001

A delightfully ingenious cosmic comedy on the nature and structure of ultimates. Here are travelers' tales such as you rarely find--metaphysical jaunts from one end of the universe to the other. -- Jean Houston, Ph.D., The Foundation for Mind Research

I most recommend his works, especially 'A Brief Tour of Higher Consciousness' for it will inspire you in most unimaginable ways. -- Jaye C. Beldo, The Konformist

Product Description

A lighthearted yet profound guide to the realms of higher consciousness and the ultimate nature of reality.

• Explains some of the most difficult concepts of physics and heightened consciousness in ways that are easily understood.

• Presents a model for the interaction of the universe and human thought that has profound implications for our future.

All aboard for the excursion of a lifetime as Itzhak Bentov, the celebrated engineer, inventor, and mystic, takes you on a tour of the universe, pure consciousness, and all that lies beyond. Using comical sketches, simple metaphors, and his famous wit and humor, Bentov explains the nature of reality, points out the sights in Nirvana and the Void, and eventually takes you to a meeting with your higher self. Along the way, Bentov illuminates the Kabbalistic principles of number and sound, the meaning of cosmic shapes and symbols, the consciousness of devas, and the nature of the absolute. Ultimately, he shows that the universe and thought are inseparable, and that the thoughts of all human beings affect each other and in turn the whole universe--an idea with obvious and far-reaching implications. Anyone interested in the inner reaches of the mind, the greater structure of the cosmos, and the spiritual evolution of humanity will find A Brief Tour of Higher Consciousness an informed and delightful traveling companion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Genius at large 2.0! 11 Nov 2011
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Itzhak Bentov seems to have been a man who could really did think outside the relationship of ideas we call The Box. Academic guys like Steven Pinker and Dan Dennett are very good at moving the jigsaw around, but this is mere playing with appearances or successfully playing inside The Box. Itzhak Bentov glimpsed what was happening outside of appearances. I don't claim to have grasped, or even understood, half of what this bloke was on about. I can't make heads or tails of his ideas because Bentov seems to have been a genius and his mental symphony is definitely beyond my level of intelligence, but I did get the odd glimpse of understanding here and there. And hey, you don't need to be a Mozart to appreciate Mozart, so I suppose we can get something out of a genius.

I only wish that I had discovered this man in my younger years, when the child's brain is more alive and ready for inspiration. This book feels like a springboard for a teenage prodigy somewhere out in the wilds. So if you come across a confused child genius, be it in an asylum or languishing at the bottom set in school, then you should give him this book. The scribblings of a gifted thinker is a priceless gift to another.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Fun to read 22 Aug 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Great Fun to read, and one ends up understanding the subject far more than expected...It is a fact that understanding a subject as wide reaching as this can often be made easier by adding humour. HAving made a study of the subject for some 45 years I was delighted to find it was suggesting new avenues I had not thought of and give me insights thst have been very useful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Light, fun, profound, and mathematical 27 Feb 2006
By Michael Laughrin - Published on
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book is the best (and most fun) introduction to the modern idea of Enlightenment combined with quantum physics that I have ever come across. And I have been swimming in these "Enlightenment" waters for over 35 years now.

"A Brief Tour of Higher Consciousness" is light, fun, profound, and mathematical. The author relates the ultimate meaning of the Universe with both the Hebrew and Sanskrit alphabets. I especially like the chapter about the Devas because it so closely parallels my own experience.

The subtitle of this tome is also revealing: "A Cosmic Book on the Mechanics of Creation." Wonderful!

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended 4 Jan 2011
By E. Martin Olson - Published on
Itzhak Bentov is one of my favorite writers. If you're interested in creative visualization exercises but retch at New Age jargon and cringe at trendy timid non-thinkers who parrot buzz words and kiss the feet of gurus, you will be at home here.

Bentov's warmth, his playful intellect and his sympathy with all things through the use of his imagination makes him one of the most fun and powerful mystical thinkers who ever dove down a monster's throat or wobbled inside a galaxy.

Bentov accepts the fun premise that his awareness is a part of the awareness that created the universe. So he accepts as his birthright the ablity to explore his larger self, known as the universe. In his books he shares, step by step, the many cool visualization techniques and paradoxical mental tricks he learned along the wav using creative visualization to explore the amazing inner universe of the "cosmic mind."

5.0 out of 5 stars Enlightening and Informative Book that is Mandatory Reading 4 Jun 2000
By A Customer - Published on
Itzhak Bentov's second book after "Stalking the Wild Pendulum", (that was completed/published by his wife after his untimely death). Itzhak bentov was a genius in the area of physics and metaphysics, and reveals to mankind (those with the intelligence, and open/elightened minds) the proverbial secrets of the universe.
Other recommended books are- "KYBALION" by Three Initiates ; "Initiation of the World" by Vera Stanley Alder ; "The Secret Life of Nature" by Peter Tompkins ; "Meditation" by Sri Chinmoy ; "Heaven's Mirror" by Graham Hancock ; "ZELATOR" by Mark Hedsel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Relax and Have Fun ! 17 Feb 2011
By K. Kwan - Published on
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This little book is kind of a continuation of the author's Pendulum book. There is also a DVD presentation available.

There are tons of books available on the topic of Consciousness and Awareness. But this one is simply a class of its own, because of the humor, simplicity and graphics. If you fast forward to the end conclusion, Relax and have fun, because there is no end to this evolution.

As an Abraham-Hicks follower, Bentov's conclusion is same as Abraham-Hicks.

In the DVD, the first few minutes you can watch Bentov's short interview-presentation. And you can feel his easiness and fun attitude.

3.0 out of 5 stars I prefer his first book, but I realize that some will benefit from this one 20 Oct 2013
By Karl - Tiny Thought Guy - Published on
I must say from the beginning that this is another one of those instances where I thoroughly enjoyed an earlier book written by an author and then was underwhelmed with a subsequent book.

The first book written by I. Bentov, "Stalking the Wild Pendulum" was entertaining, informative and written in such a way that a person who did not have in depth knowledge could still follow along. I enjoyed reading that book and I will read it again, likely more than once. In contrast to that, I found this book, "A Brief Tour Of Higher Consciousness" to be one that I will likely not pick up for the second time. The content in this book is certainly more esoteric than in his original book and I can understand that such material is more difficult to discuss; however, even with that caveat I still did not find this book very enjoyable or relevant to my journey.

For example, a significant amount of the book is dedicated to describing the "model of the universe" and while it may be an accurate representation of the spiritual nature of the cosmos, discussing, at length, the hierarchy of the beings that create the universe is irrelevant to me. Whether there are seven levels of creation or 70 levels of creation, or if the universe is in the shape of a watermelon or a grapefruit, is not something that I concern myself with.

On a positive note, the information about holograms presented in the appendix was informative, I enjoyed reading Foreword wherein some background information into the books creation was discussed, and I did glean a few nuggets in the text itself. In addition, I do admire the fact that someone with a more scientific background took a chance by writing a book that revealed their personal beliefs about the nature of the universe and cosmology.

In conclusion then, this a book that is not on the list of my favorites and I predominantly added a "Book Review" because there will undoubtedly be some readers who can relate to Itzhak's experiences and who would benefit from reading about them.
