This is a first rate pair of socks for gym work and for hiking or just plain walking when ankle length socks are not needed. They are well made and add a good solid layer of support. They are certain to last for a very long time.

Sadly Bridgedale seem to have replaced a long-standing (no pun intended) favourite of mine whose design has stayed pretty much the same for 15 years or so. Still, that's progress for you and whilst the old short coolmax sock they did would have easily got a 5 star review from me, this one gets 4 stars - they're probably the best short sock on the market now but knowing how good they could have been, based on the old socks, I find it hard to give them anything more.
FYI they're slightly cooler/thinner than the ankle length version of the Active Light Hiker Sock (or whatever it was called) making that perfect fit with my favourite Lowa Renegade Low Boots just a tad less comfortable.

Top notch socks. Well worth the price. I used to get blisters all the time with my cotton socks, so I dumped those and stocked up on Bridgedales. Socks are just one of those things you cant cut corners on.
