The set is a post-apocalyptic world, actually Bulgaria, with a central European population, Asian princess persecuted by Asian badass general, a main character name of Warchild, the ruthless killer who makes a full turn towards the fight for goodness, no bridges to speak of and absolutely zilch dragons.
Can a hodgepodge like this work?
Strangely enough it does. Almost brings a tear to the afficionado's eye that such a movie could get made in 1999. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

This was a good surprise. A movie with lots of action and a fairly good story. Dolph Lundgren does a good role as the main character Warchild, and the other actors are also quite good. So all things considering you get what you want from this movie. Good entertainment.

Bridge Of Dragons is very well edited and I guess directed. If you watch the film youll see why I mention that. A lot of the action and non action scenes are cut very sharply and intelligently. The physical abilities of Dolph Lungren and Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa are impressive. The acting is good all around but it does become like other Dolph Lungren films, lot of action and violence and no discussion of the violence or the struggle of the characters. There is from the daughter of the main boss but not enough dialogue form the main Lungren character to make the film really intruiging. The violence becomes too normal in his films and thats whats a turn off to me anyway. But as film goes this film isnt made badly at all. Thats why id give it 4 stars and not 3.

This is good, escapist fun.

Dolph Lundgren is always enjoyable of course, - a sort of poor man's Rambo, but always provides great kick arse action nevertheless.

The added bonus is this film is Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, who always plays the sword wielding baddie so well. Here he is pretty good at slicing and dicing his foes.

Recommend it, but it is quite gory in parts hence the 18 rating

Dolph Lungren rules!! 3 Dec 2007
By Shiloh Kremer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: DVD Verified Purchase
Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa is a well known martial artist who plays bad guy Warlord Ruechang. Dolph Lungren is one of Ruechang's loyal soldiers who is trained to never question orders. However, Reuchang continues to abuse the princess, played by Rachel Shane, whose father he killed. Lungren finally challenges Ruechang to a final scene that is very 'extreme' with broken bones and even sword action!
This movie is a fantasy action film that has a fictional military that is governed by warlord Ruechang. Good martial arts action. I rate this movie with 5 stars. This movie gets one entire star just because Lungren is in the movie. I must say, even though Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (Ruechang) is a bad guy in this movie, I enjoyed his performance in Bridge of Dragons.
Very entertaining!!

This is a very good movie and I agree with th person who said the princess was hot because she was. Anyway this movie has everything it needs a plot, good acting, good fight scenes, and a reasonable length. This is a great film so go check it out.

The Future? 26 Jan 2001
By Carolyn E. Ribas - Published on Amazon.com
Format: DVD
This movie is supposed to be set in the future but I think that due to a low budget, they couldn't really capture a futuristic look. However, the action and the martial arts are great and all the acting is pretty good. The problem is the movie just looks cheap. If you can get past how cheap it looks, its actually a pretty entertaining story. I would watch it again.
"There's one problem with that. You can't kill Ruechang... but I can" 3 April 2007
By morgoth - Published on Amazon.com
Format: DVD
In an imaginary world, a princess is on the run from the evil General Ruechang. Ruechang's top soldier played by Dolph Lundgren is sent to capture the princess so Ruechang can marry her. She falls in love with Dolph and convinces him to save her.

The movie is not badly directed, but the acting and story is really hard to sit through. The action is the only thing an Isaac Florentine movie should be watched for, and it doesn't disappoint in that area. Thouands of bullets fly, there are hundreds of explosions, and don't even try to keep a death count. While Florentine had not yet polished his action style (he used to direct Power Rangers), it is still fun to watch. The movie is low budget, but Florentine manages to make it feel like a big production. Where the low budget comes into play is with the actors. Dolph Lundgren as the main star greatly hampers everything. The editing is excellent, but Dolph just moves too slow. If he was at least a decent actor, his slowness could be excused, but if someone isn't a good actor in the first place, Isaac Florentine isn't going to be a big help. The final fight is not bad, but it is the best scene in the movie, and that is not saying much. There is also supposed to be something between Ruechang raising Dolph since he was a child, but they only tell you this in the story and the acting and directing job doesn't allow it to be believable.

1.5/5

The DVD from HBO Home Video has good picture quality and has short cast and crew biographies.
