About the Author

While running an electrical wholesale company Philip began writing fiction as a respite from his business activities and had short horror published in various magazines. He even wrote a series of articles on New Age Philosophy which was published in Burning Issues, now defunct. One day he came across an article on writing westerns and wrote HOT SPUR using the pseudonym Elliot James which was his grandson’s name. Black Horse Westerns accepted the book and since then Philip has had 13 westerns published under P. McCormac and various pennames. The most recent, WILD JUSTICE, published in 2012. Writing is an obsession with Philip and there is always a full programme of writing ongoing.

A compelling, scary read that carries you a long at pace. It has also been well researched. It's full of menace and suspense with shocks and horror punching their way through the pages, not least of all children missing and the de-flowering of an innocent nun and much, much more. Philip Mc'Cormac is a seriously good writer and I hope that there's a sequel to this book because the characters depicted in it are worth another airing.
If you read this whilst on your own, you'll be sleeping with the light on.

I purchased this Kindle e-book in the States. I had tried to purchase it on this page, but could not, since I am in the USA. I am impressed with this author, however, and want to share my review here.

I am not usually a fan of horror fiction, but this author's writing style hooked me. He tells an exciting story, but exciting stories are a dime a dozen. He tells his story well, with outstanding prose, and that skill is as rare as hens' teeth. Reading his words is like letting fine chocolate melt in your mouth.

As a bonus, his story is well-structured and actually quite frightening. And suspenseful.

I ordered Bridge of Blood from Amazon and it was delivered two days later. I couldn't resist taking a look inside and found I couldn't put it down until I had read it from cover to cover. Philip McCormac obviously knows how to hold his reader's interest and uses an intriguing variety of tactics to keep the adrenaline running. An excellent book. I can't wait to read the sequel.

Good Read 29 Oct 2013

This was an easy to read book. The story opens in Ulster 1641. We have catholic rebels out to rid themselves of the new protestant settlers. The settlers are in church when the rebels arrive, as they try to flee the slaughter begins. The Reverend seeks out the local priest in hopes to stop the bloodshed, instead he is witness to the banishment of the demon Laldabath.
Fast forward to present day, a young woman and her brother are fishing they snag a tangled mess and find a goblet in debris, which they keep. Later the young women, Mary who is a nun presents the goblet to her priest, Father Kelly. Father Kelly unwittingly unleashes Laldabath who has been contained for the past 350 years.
Throw into the mix; detectives Beryl and Martin who are investigating missing children all connected to St. Bridget's, where Father Kelly oversees the youth group, Father Hickey, an Irish priest missing in South America and we have several stories going on all involving the unleashed demon.
All in all this was a good read. I felt there was a few loose ends, but nothing to keep me from recommending the book. To find out more about this author visit [...]
