From the Publisher

The Bride Finder is an extraordinary must-read
Having been a romance reader since junior high and an editor of romance novels for the last several years, I've read and loved a lot of books. Of all of them, though, The Bride Finder truly stands out as extra special for me. This manuscript was one of the first things I read when I began my new job at Ballantine, and I couldn't believe my good fortune to be working with this fabulous author. There is something magical about Susan Carroll and the characters she has created in this book. They are so real and vivid, they will stay with you long after you've finished. And there is a freshness to her story that reminds you why you started reading romance in the first place. Don't miss this spectacular book! --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

4.0 out of 5 stars A tale of magic and romance, 11 Feb 2005
By A Customer
Chosen by the Bridge Finder, a man blessed with amazing insight, Madeline Breton has come to Cornwall to meet her husband the enigmatic Anatole St. Leger. But her dream of happiness soon diffuses in his overpowering shadow. Anatole knows only too well the legacies that to him have been more curse than gift. But as Madeline embarks on a odyssey both otherworldly and undeniable real, she and her husband fall hopelessly in love - until she sees a haunting vision of murder and a terrifying enemy emerges to threaten both their lives ...

Ignored and reviled by both parents almost from birth Anatole built an armoured shield around his heart that was almost impossible to pierce. Needing to wed, he employs the services of the Bride Finder, the Reverend Fitzleger, with strict instructions as to what he does not want in a wife.

Madeline is the sensible member of a family of big spenders who marries for money to pull her family out of debt, but falls in love with a miniture of a young man who she marries by proxy, Anatole St Leger, who is certainly not what she expected when they meet face to face. She does not initially believe in the St. Leger myths and legends, but are they truly myth and legend? Is there such a thing as one true love?

As is to be expected the path of true love does not run smooth. Madeline is intially everying Anatole does not want in a wife, but eventually after many misunderstandings and fear on both sides they come to realise, with a little "spiritual" help that this could be a match made in heaven, or St. Leger legend.

Susan Carroll brings something to the story which many other authors lack.

A very good read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A rare story, brilliant!, 28 Jul 2000
By J COFFMAN "Jackie" (Solihull, West Midlands, England.) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
There are very few authors who can grab and hold my attention, but Susan has with this story. It is a wonderful love story with two powerful people set right in the middle of it. Anatole and Madeline are made for each other, even though they don't think so in the beginning.

They have to overcome many obsticles to come to realise they love each other and finding they do they realise that love is strong enough to change the prophecy of what must be.

The BRIDE FINDER is a very rare book with some wonderful characters and some not so wonderful characters. The story will hold you right to the very last page. I was so sad when Roman, who was a very nasty member of the St. Leger family died. He finally made his peace with Anatole just before he died. They had both hated each other from the day they were born, thanks to Anatole's parents rejection of him. Anatole's mother wished Roman was her son because he had not inherites the St. Leger's curse, like her own son had.

Buy this book, you won't be disapointed with it. I'm just about to start the sequel to this story called THE NIGHT DRIFTER. This one is about Lance, the son and heir to Castle Leger, one of Anatole and Madeline's twin sons. I can't wait to finish it.

For those of you who would like to know if there will be a third book in the series, there will be. It is called VALENTINES BRIDE and will be released in the Winter of 2001. I can't wait.....

5.0 out of 5 stars The Bride Finder is my best FIND of the year! Excellant!, 16 Dec 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Bride Finder (Hardcover)
The Bride Finder is the best book I have read this year. It kept me on the edge of my seat to see what Anatole would do next and how Madeline would handle it. This book combines everything I look for in a book-romance, gothic, adventure, mystery-to a gothic-like setting. It is spooky but funny and wonderful at the same time. My favorite part would have to be when Anatole was going to destroy that painting of the ghost of the castle and the ghost prevented it. It scared Madeline terribly. This book is truly a great book even with it's romantic content. My sister-in-law dosen't even read romance, but she loved The Bride Finder. She said it had a killer plot and it does because it nearly killed me unti I found out what was going on! All I can ask Susan Carrol is this:Can we be expecting a sequel of some type? Please reply to me at my address below because I really love hearing from other people!
