A tale of magic and romance, 11 Feb 2005
By A Customer
Chosen by the Bridge Finder, a man blessed with amazing insight, Madeline Breton has come to Cornwall to meet her husband the enigmatic Anatole St. Leger. But her dream of happiness soon diffuses in his overpowering shadow. Anatole knows only too well the legacies that to him have been more curse than gift. But as Madeline embarks on a odyssey both otherworldly and undeniable real, she and her husband fall hopelessly in love - until she sees a haunting vision of murder and a terrifying enemy emerges to threaten both their lives ...Ignored and reviled by both parents almost from birth Anatole built an armoured shield around his heart that was almost impossible to pierce. Needing to wed, he employs the services of the Bride Finder, the Reverend Fitzleger, with strict instructions as to what he does not want in a wife. Madeline is the sensible member of a family of big spenders who marries for money to pull her family out of debt, but falls in love with a miniture of a young man who she marries by proxy, Anatole St Leger, who is certainly not what she expected when they meet face to face. She does not initially believe in the St. Leger myths and legends, but are they truly myth and legend? Is there such a thing as one true love? As is to be expected the path of true love does not run smooth. Madeline is intially everying Anatole does not want in a wife, but eventually after many misunderstandings and fear on both sides they come to realise, with a little "spiritual" help that this could be a match made in heaven, or St. Leger legend. Susan Carroll brings something to the story which many other authors lack. A very good read.
