Let me start by saying that this game is superb. Having already purchased Brian Lara for the XBOX360 I was expected a basic conversion of this game with inferior graphics.
However, the gameplay has been improved and this makes the PSP version the best on the market across any platform. The reaction fielding for slip catches which is over difficult on the 360 has been taken out, whist the outfielding has been improved. The batting and bowling are still all about timing and are easy to pick up. At my first attempt I played a 40 over game with both teams scoring around 170. There are various difficulty levels to suit the user. What more could you want than a great playing game and the option to play a World Cup Tournament with all the major stars of Cricket.

I like this game. It's not too complicated yet requires a bit of cricket nouce!
I prefer bowling and finding the divets in the crease, there is nothing more satisfying than being hit for a six and then bowling a perfect ball and hearing that chink of the stumps being knocked over!! I'm still learning my batting technique, Ive banged a few fours and ran a lot of singles so far. It is a real battle of bowler vs batter and the confidence levels rise and fall to reflect that. One criticism, I wish you could hit the ball behind you, like the little flicks the real players achieve. Also a reverse sweep would be a fun move. As far as I'm aware, these moves are not possible within this game. I have this game on my X-Box but having it on my PSP and being mobile means I can watch the 20/20 World Championships and play The Cricket Word Cup at the same time! Priceless!

I think the reviews so far have been harsh. I think this is a very playable game and a perfectly good cricket sim. Its not perfect and there are some aspects which are a bit strange (very easy to bowl sides out for ridiculous scores, no test matches, Dalrymple in the England team) but once you start getting used to it and move up the levels it presents a good challenge, particularly with the batting. And it is possible to hit the ball away from the fielders, at least at County level.
I am thoroughly enjoying playing the game.
