4.0 out of 5 stars A great help in understanding great literature., 2 Sep 2001
This is obviously not a book to be read for entertainment purposes, but from an educational point of view it is an informative and helpful accompniment to the work of Brian Friel. The evaluations of the text as well as the dictionary of terms make understanding the novels / plays much easier especially those which include Irish / Greek / Latin vocabulary. I would reccommend this book to anyone who enjoys the work of Friel but especially to those studying his books as part of a degree / A-level qualification, as they give a understandable and reliable idea of what the text is trying to say and from this, students can develop their own theories.
