DVD Description

14 Video Paintings is comprised of two separate works ("Mistaken Memories of Mediaeval Manhattan" and "Thursday Afternoon") created in the early ‘80s by Brian Eno for art gallery exhibition only. Available for the first time on DVD, viewers are presented with a series of slowly evolving "video paintings," with "Thursday Afternoon" focusing on the human figure and "Mistaken Memories" on the Manhattan skyline. The music for "Thursday Afternoon" is a different version than what appears on Eno’s album of the same name, while the music that accompanies "Mistaken Memories" comes from two of his acclaimed ambient albums (On Land and Music For Airports) and features an unreleased track.

1.0 out of 5 stars Why isn't this DVD in Stereo?, 14 Feb 2006
Just in case you tought you were going to get a digital version in stereo of "Mistaken Memories" or the original version of "Thursday afternoon" ... you are mistaken fore some reason the soundtrack is MONO ... I have the HiFI VHS version of "Thursday Afternoon" and its in stereo .... I have a DVD bootleg of the "Thursday Afternoon" Laser Disk released only in Japan ... and its in stereo .... I could understand the "Mistaken Memories" videos having a mono soundtrack ... they were never released in a stereo format ... I feel slightly misled by All Saints/Hannibal for publishing this disk without notification of soundtrack fromats ... dodgey ...

If you really want this for BE's silly videos, buy it, if you were after a digital copy of these rare soundtracks ... forget it ....

5.0 out of 5 stars a milestone which no one follow, 9 Feb 2006
althought easily dismissed as amateur work, as you may compare this to the much more evoluted work in music, these short films remain, after all these years, a standing stone in visual meditation from a place we all must go sometimes. The man himself produced a great many works which has been an undertrack for other people way of doing things. this is certanly one of them if only videomakers would be able to spend a little to gain a little.
time is not an issue in working this way, you may know through these visions that is not too difficult to look to familiar places with a deeper eye, maybe it is an exercise in deeper vision which is the aim of meditation of course. the sheer pleasure in being exposed to this little works again is one of warmth and consolation through dark times. pay attention.
