The Breville VTP130 Traditional Crêpe Maker is a 30 centimetre (cm) wide circular cooking plate made from aluminium with a non-stick coating for easy cleaning. In fact, there's no fiddly dismantling required to wash the plate after use, simply wipe clean with a damp cloth and it's ready to use again.
It boosts an impressive 1000 kW of power and has a variable temperature control with five settings, giving you the control to heat to your requirements. The plate rapidly heats up and after less than three minutes is ready to go at a medium setting.

Easy to use
There are power-on and ready-to-cook indicator lights which both light-up when the appliance is switched on. I have always found it hard to make good pancakes but this crepe maker trully does make it a lot easier. It is very easy to use and I have been able to make quality pancakes from the very first use.
A major downside I see with this, though, is its size. It is a very large unit and we simply don't have enough space in our kitchen for it meaning it can't be left out, it needs to be put away after every use.

Scotch pancakes used to be such a joy to make on my Rayburn, direct on the hotplate and served to the waiting hungry mob. But then I moved house and left the beloved Rayburn behind. Griddles in general don't work so well for Sotch pancakes and Tattie scones, but let me tell you, this machine does! I'm so impressed. It's hot enough (for a wonder) and the non stick surface lets you flip the pancakes off with almost no effort at all.
Breville missed a trick not including a recipe for Scotch pancakes with this item, if you have one of these or are thinking of buying one please do your taste buds a flavour and google them. Failing that get yourself a copy of Maw Broon's Cookbook: The Broon's Cookbook - for Every Day and Special Days (the recipes are authentic and tasty) and whip yourself up a batch from that.
Normal pancakes are certainly easier than a frying pan with this, and crepes come out super-thin and just crispy when you catch it right - watch them though because this does get a little warm when you use it.
All in all impressed and so happy to be able to make Scotch pancakes the easy way again.

As a family we are pancake or Crêpe (however you want to call them) and thought the Breville VTP130 would be a great addition
On unpacking it looked a very nice product, I've seen a couple of none branded ones which have looked cheap and very flimsy, the breville is very well made.
It's a big item 30 cm diameter plate so needs a bit of space.
The Breville can be temperature controlled which stops you burning your pancakes.
First results were good, the next few were even better, its easy to get a more even thinner result, we've struggled to get to grips with the paddle thing but after time i'm sure we will master it.
Comes with a booklet which gives you sweet and savoury recipes, you can we understand make omelets (not tried but looks an ideal surface for them)
We are very pleased with the product and the results, I have mine with toffee sauce and bananas, um um, My little boy likes the more traditional lemon and sugar.
Only issue that is very small, we wish it had a lid so we could use the top when not being used, otherwise it may ended up at the back of a cupboard and forgotten.
