I bought the Breville Panini Press to replace my toaster and to use as a toasted sandwich maker.
The old toaster was difficult to clean and only toasted sliced loaves well. Anu other kind of bread was not successful. As I use Gluten Free bread that is often fragile and breaks up if toasted vertically,the toast was very difficult to extract, leading to toast being charred or bits being left in and going on fire!
This product is great for use with Gluten Free bread as it toasts horizontally and any depth of bread can be used. The toasted sandwiches are brilliant and it is so easy to clean crumbs, melted cheese or fat deposits off with a swift wipe with a piece of kitchen roll on removal of your sandwich ........all it need to keep it pristine.
The only criticism is that, as the plates are heavy, if using simply to toast bread it gets pretty squashed. However any kind of bread, bagels, sliced loaves or ciabatta etc.all get toasted to perfection, nice and crispy if somehwat flatter than form a conventional toaster. This is a small price to pay for it's versitility!

I'm throwing out my old sandwich maker. This panini press is even better than I thought it would be. It heats up so quickly and in just a few minutes, produces toasty hot treats. Because the plates are flat, without those hard to clean grooves, it's a cinch to clean. Another fab feature is the floating hinge which allows you to make humungous sandwiches...then again, maybe that's a bad point! So, bottom line, if you want to buy a reliable, durable and stylish looking panini press at an affordable price, then buy this one. You won't regret it.

This is quite a bit smaller than most panini presses I have seen. It doesn't take up loads of room on the work surface and it sits vertically for easy storage in the kitchen cupboard.
It takes any thickness of sandwich or panini which it toasts to perfection without burning.
Liquid contents can spill out of the sandwich a bit although fully contained within the toaster. Just scoop this up and pour over the toastie for a tasty sauce.
Cleaning takes seconds with a damp cloth over the hot plates. No ridges or hard to clean areas. Any spillage contained within the bottom plate.
Compares very favourably with cut and seal toasters which are messy, hard to clean, variable in performance and only do traditional type toasted sandwiches.
So far, very happy with this purchase.

Its an ideal panini maker and easy to use and clean. Not suitable for making toast unless u use thick slice of bread otherwise you will end up with a very thin slice of toast. Read more
